The Reviews

Maclaren Mark II Stroller

Maclaren undeniably carries one of the best brands I highly suggest to parents. Although they tend to be a bit pricier than the rest, I’m still in awe of them and find it reasonable as they really produce quality products. Their range of strollers is mostly packed with features and built with sturdy materials to last for a long time. Despite with many features their strollers have like the Quest, Triumph or Techno XT, they still managed to keep it a light of just about 12 to 14 pounds in weight. But now, Maclaren pushes its limit by producing the lightest model in their line-ups and pretty much among its competitors in the market. I present you the Maclaren Mark II Stroller!

If it’s just a matter of weight in competition, the Maclaren Mark Stroller would have already snatched the trophy and be dubbed as the best lightweight umbrella stroller. It only weighs about 7.3 pounds without the canopy and 7.5 pounds with it attached. However, to accommodate such weight, some features were compromised. Reclining feature was dropped as this only has one seat position. So if that’s what you’re after aside from weight, I’d better suggest that you move on to the next and read my review on UppaBaby G-lite. And while its canopy comes with an extendable sun visor, it doesn’t provide total sun coverage, I’d say it does just a pretty decent job.

But with those aside, I can list down a lot more reasons for you to love it.  First, its package includes a rain cover and carry strap so you can easily carry it over your shoulder when not in use. Secondly, its canopy has a mesh peek-a-boo window, a waterproof hood, and overall water-resistant seat. These allow you to check on your child time to time and protect him or her from slight rain pours. Aside from being water-resistant, it’s also engineered with a ripstop fabric so it won’t wear and tear easily.

I also like its idea for sewing a breathable mesh center panel in its seat. Just like any ordinary chairs, if we sit on it for too long, it gets hot. But with this brilliant design, we are assured that our little star would be comfortable and cool on their strollers, perfect for summer strolls. It is made with an innovative aircraft-grade aluminum hexagonal frame to keep it light yet strong enough to endure the rigors of outdoor activity and travel. It also has an anti-microbial handle, 5 point safety harness and easy-access basket.

Handling it is also a breeze. You can easily push it with one hand and with the 4-wheel suspension, it ensures a smooth ride over gravel, grass or even on rugged terrain. It is easy to fold and has a one-foot linked cable brake system. This lets you put a stop and easily lock the back wheels at the same time. You don’t have to go over each wheel just to put on brakes. It really has some pretty nifty features and couple it with a very lightweight quality make this a strong contender and very convenient for travels. And as always, Maclaren feels like it can grow along with your kid because of its durability and capacity to mostly hold weights of up to 55 pounds, including the Maclaren Mark II.

If you decide to purchase this, I can assure you that your money won’t go to waste. You can choose from 5 vibrant colors and it’s priced not more than $200 with free shipping from Amazon. I like to recommend buying it from Amazon because they have good customer support, they deliver fast and most of the time their products are priced competitively lower than the market. It also fared well among parents, receiving 4.4 stars out of 5, which I personally would also give it not lower than 4.5 stars.

I could say that this is the best choice if your baby is already in toddler years and no longer naps a lot so the reclining feature would no longer be your priority, and yet its weight makes it really convenient for you to bring it anywhere and make errands or shopping smooth and hassle-free. After all, as your kid grows and becomes heavier, I promise that you will definitely want a lighter stroller.

The UPPAbaby G-Lite Stroller

This is not the first time that we recognized the awesomeness of an UPPAbaby stroller. In fact, we’ve already included its G-Luxe lineup as one of our top choices for the best umbrella strollers. And since there’s another UppaBaby stroller that is definitely one of the lightest strollers as well, we simply could not overlook it! I’m talking about the UPPAbaby G-lite!

The G-Lite is a sleek and basic stroller that works for almost everyone! Its minimalistic no-nonsense design is sure to capture the practical parent’s eye. The UPPAbaby G-Lite Stroller, staying true to its trademark name, is known for being notoriously lightweight for only 11.2 pounds. You can say goodbye to sore arms and legs after a long stroll with your child.

And while most lightweight strollers tend to remove a reclining feature, the G-lite still has this feature. The G-lite has a zipper recline that allows it to recline the seat back to some extent. While it doesn’t recline very deep, it’s still pretty handy. Your kid can now nap more comfortably in such position. Add to that its mesh sling seat, it allows breathability that keeps your child cool even under extra hot days.

When the day’s done, the G-Lite has a hand-level trigger that conveniently folds the stroller. It’s so easy, you can do it with just one hand; no more of that foot pedal nonsense. It instantly becomes ready for storage, awaiting your next day out with the baby! Low-maintenance is a word we like to hear and the seats do just that. With its water and stain-resistant fabric, the seats require less than regular cleaning which is a definite plus! Maneuvering this stroller is so easy, you can do it with one hand and it just rolls away smoothly.

The G-Lite also sports a large canopy with an extendable UPF50+ sunshade to protect your child from any harmful elements. While a cup-holder conveniently sits beside the sunshade for you to put your drink or even the baby’s formula! And it also has a net basket at the bottom so you can have a space to put your other baby essentials or diaper bag. You don’t have to stress yourself from carrying your things. Now, these are totally convenient features to have. Traveling with your little angel will be such a breeze that you would want to bring your child again and again!

I highly recommend the G-lite, it is totally worth the investment and no doubt one of the best lightweight umbrella strollers. Not only is it lightweight, it also offers more features and durable construction that can last for years. You can even get a better bargain for this if you buy it from Amazon because they offer it at a low price of not more than 200 bucks with free shipping! If you are still unconvinced, you can read lots of rave reviews about it. Majority of parents who bought this are way happy and satisfied, giving it a stellar rating on Amazon.

The Chicco Capri Lightweight Stroller

The Chicco has been one of the oldest and leading brands for baby essentials. Even my mom told me she used Chicco products on me when I was young. So it is no surprise to see Chicco still reigning strong today.

For this category, Chicco introduces Capri Lightweight Stroller, which the company markets as ultra lightweight. It sports a lovely aluminum frame that weighs a surprising 11 pounds despite its heavy features! It works just as useful as any umbrella strollers but in a smaller, more lightweight package which mothers everywhere will surely love.

What sets the Capri apart is being able to actually recline! You can keep your baby comfortable with its 2-position reclining seat. While its 5-point padded safety harness ensures a safe and comfortable ride!

Although the size of its canopy isn’t its strongest point. It helps that it is adjustable so you can still provide shade against the direction of wind or sunlight. You can keep your child safe from the sun, wind, and cold. Because we all know our baby’s sensitive needs, the last thing you want is for your baby to have a cold. A large basket is also at your service to carry the baby’s things or even your groceries!

Lastly, the Capri folds and expands easily because of the convenient quick-release umbrella fold! Less hassle and incredibly space-saving, too! The stroller includes a carry bag and shoulder carry strap to make it easier to bring along your travels with your baby. The carry bag also helps protect the stroller from getting dirty easily.

The only thing I don’t like about the Capri is its low weight capacity. While most umbrella strollers nowadays can hold babies up to 50 pounds, this one can only hold up to 37 pounds. While using it above the weight limit won’t instantly break it. It will deteriorate faster and could expose your kid to getting hurt if you keep using it above the limit. Other than that, its features aren’t far different from the other two with a better recline capability. On top of it all, it costs the most affordable among the best lightweight umbrella strollers.

The Chicco Capri is a fully-featured package available for not more than $80. Now that is not only light in weight but is also light on your budget! More than 300 parents can already attest to its capability and reliability. They have been happy with their purchase, giving it a commendable score of 4.1 out of 5 stars rating.

Lastly, if you want a capable lightweight stroller for the most affordable price, then you can place your bet with the Chicco Capri.
