best umbrella strollers with canopyWe already know how important it is to take your baby out of the house regularly for a stroll! It’s a great change of scenery for both you and your child, instead of constantly being cooped up in your home. But your greatest worry when you’re out is always going to be the weather, Nowadays, the weather is just too unpredictable; you just never ever know what’s going to happen until it happens! One minute, the weather is perfect, but the next it could either become incredibly sunny or suddenly coming down in cats and dogs. That’s why we should be prepared at all times and not take chances for the safety of our little ones.

With your baby’s super sensitive skin, you have to be extra careful when it comes to exposing them to the sun. Excessive sun exposure can do a lot of damage to your baby’s skin, while suddenly getting rained on can give your little one a horrible cold or even worse, a bad fever! As parents, we have to make it a point to highlight protection and safety in everything we do for our baby, and that definitely goes for the umbrella stroller that we pick for our child! Make sure it’s an umbrella stroller with a canopy that it is large enough that can give proper cover because it’s going to be your baby’s savior on those super hot days or if you suddenly encounter rain!

The Reviews

The Joovy New Groove Ultralight Umbrella Stroller

One of the first things you will ever notice about the Joovy New Groove Ultralight Umbrella Stroller is how large the canopy is. Since the beginning of their umbrella stroller line, Joovy has always been incredibly well known for their signature oversized canopy which is absolutely a perfect choice for weather protection for your baby because of the fantastic coverage with UPF 50 sun protection that it gives! While its soft fabric is water resistant so you won’t have to worry about getting your baby wet during light rains. So if it is just a matter of looking for an extra large canopy that is effective in providing shade to our little ones, this is a total win. But for me, there are actually more to love other than its large canopy that I’m sure every parent will love as well and find it very useful.

From just the name itself, Joovy promises an umbrella stroller so light that it will blow your mind! Weighing in at less than 14 pounds, the Joovy New Groove Ultralight is going to be a dream to push and carry around. Thus, it is incredibly travel-friendly and it is very easy to store in your car trunk or even the tightest spaces at home! Not to mention, it also has a high, ergonomic and well-cushioned handle of 425″, making this very handy and comfortable to use for all moms and dads who are even 6 feet tall, letting this stand out not only for this category but also to the best umbrella strollers for tall people list as well.

When it comes to comfort and safety, your baby is going to be snug and in place with the handy dandy multi-position and near flat seat recline, adjustable 5 point harness and leg rest! The 7-inch wheels with sealed bearings and all-suspension actions ensure a smooth ride with your baby plus maximum maneuverability. You don’t have to worry from hitting small bumps and waking your baby from his/her nap. And if you want to keep a close eye on your baby, there’s a convenient little peek a boo window for you to peer into to see what your little one is up to!

Traveling with your baby doesn’t have to end when the sun’s out. The New Groove has safety reflectors that will illuminate at night! But when it’s really time to go home, folding the umbrella stroller is easy with its one-hand fold and automatic lock makes storing your stroller a breeze! It can even stand on its own while folded so you don’t have to put it down and get it dirtied while you load your stuff into your car.

With the Joovy New Groove, there’s every bit of the classic Joovy Groove Umbrella Stroller design that consumers from all around the world have come to love, but in the Ultralight’s case, all of the perks come in an incredibly light and convenient package, making the Joovy New Groove Ultralight a wonderful choice for parents everywhere!

This wonderful package is all yours for a reasonable price of not more than $189.99, plus free shipping on Amazon! You don’t have to hassle yourself in going to the mall and having to carry your child while shopping for this. Amazon will make it a lot easier for you and upon delivery, this is almost as ready to use. It got a pretty high satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5 stars among parents too so it’s guaranteed you will also get your money’s worth. But don’t get too excited yet, we got more on the list!

The Baby Jogger Vue Umbrella Stroller

Baby Jogger’s umbrella strollers have always meant serious business and to be honest, this is one of my favorites. They are well known for having a ton of features that highlight convenience and comfort for the parent as well as the baby, and got some pretty cool specifications that you cannot easily find from other umbrella strollers! When it comes to the canopy of the Baby Jogger Vue, you can see that it definitely does not fall short from any of the best umbrella strollers with canopy in the market! What sets its canopy apart is the nice UV 50+ feature that keeps your baby safe from the sun. They know how coverage is just not enough as UV rays are more than capable of penetrating textile surfaces! Indeed, the UV 50+ filter is a great innovation made possible by Baby Jogger.

The Baby Jogger Vue definitely puts a lot of focus on how they can separate itself from other brands and stand out in this market. Aside from the additional function of its canopy, it also has a remarkable reversibility feature where you have the option to switch the orientation of the umbrella stroller to front facing or rear facing! This is one heck of a rare feature to find among umbrella strollers as most of them are only focused on being lightweight. With the Baby Jogger Vue Umbrella Stroller, you can now keep a closer eye on your child by facing them to you or showing them the beauty of the outside world with the classic front facing orientation! With that said, the canopy is fully reversible as well to keep your baby safe all the way!

The Vue Stroller also does not fall short when it comes to convenience and beauty. Storing it becomes super easy because just by pressing your foot up then down on the release levers will fold the Vue within seconds! Weighing at around 11 pounds, it may as well compete with the best lightweight strollers around, you will definitely not have a problem carrying this around since it’s not heavy at all and the carrying handle makes lifting and carrying your folded stroller a breeze. Your baby stays utterly comfy in the adjustable seat recline and footrest, as well as the padded neck support. While the 5 point safety harness keeps your active child in place. The design looks pretty chic and you can choose from 4 color variants.

If you ever need to make a quick stop, the rear parking brake and 5.5 inch lightweight front wheels make maneuvering and controlling the umbrella stroller super simple and easy! And if that’s not enough to have you fall head over heels over this umbrella stroller, the Baby Jogger Vue also has a ton of accessories that you can buy separately, and that includes a cool car seat adapter which can turn the Vue into a travel system which you can just use to snap your baby on and off during trips!

Of course, even without the added accessories, the Baby Jogger Vue Umbrella Stroller is a definite winner in a parent’s book! Just slightly more expensive than the Joovy but still under $200 plus free shipping, you can take this home and start bringing your kid anywhere you like. It also got a rating of 4.3 stars and also showcased for the best umbrella strollers in 2014 and 2015. So I really assure you that this stroller is a sure keeper, and with all the features that it offers are really useful, this is no doubt a great investment for you and your baby.

The Summer Infant 3D Zyre Umbrella Stroller

Summer Infant is becoming a household name when it comes to baby essentials, including strollers. And truly enough, its Summer Infant 3D Lite was a huge success that it’s one of the best-selling umbrella strollers around. It has a good set of features that you will really need for a stroller at an affordable price. If you happen to like it, then you will also love its bigger sibling – the Summer Infant 3D Zyre!

The Summer Infant 3D Zyre is the bump up version of the 3D Lite. So all the cool features you can find in the Summer Infant 3D Lite can also be found here with a few extras and improvements that will make you feel special having this one instead. It’s also no surprise how the 3D Zyre makes it as one of the best umbrella strollers with canopy because with just one look, you will instantly notice its huge canopy, pretty close to how big the Joovy’s canopies are.

And just when you thought you’ve seen it all, it can get bigger due to its zip out extension that blocks 99.9% of UVA and UVB rays. It also has a peek-in window which is always awesome to have to let you easily check on how your energetic child is doing and keep an eye on them. You could probably play peek-a-boo with them for a long time while strolling. The exceptional size of its canopy will no doubt provide shade and better protection of your little one against the sun or other elements.

It promises durability and a worry-free trip with your baby. Its grip and handles are made of heat resistant foams that feel comfortable to touch. It’s composed of aluminum frame for a more robust profile while still keeping it from being too heavy. I had no problem lifting this for It only weighs 13 pounds, just a pound heavier than the 3D Lite but I don’t think you will feel a huge difference.

And in any case, it has an auto lock, easy folding mechanism and a carry strap which is very convenient for strolling. It will not be troublesome at all to bring this when commuting and you won’t have to put yourself in a vulnerable position of putting down all of your things just to fold it. All you have to do is to lift the rear handle, push the lever with your foot and then fold it.

Although opening it from the folded position can get a bit tricky to others. There’s a foot pedal that you need to push down to make it open but few find it hard to make it work with their feet and ended up using their hands. It might get a little getting used to opening it with the foot pedal but it’s definitely not a deal breaker considering all of its awesome features. Its wheels are just fine. It’s made of plastics but it’s well-compensated for its shock-absorbing feature making it easy to maneuver and glides quite smoothly even on gravel roads or terrains.

Another convenient treat it provides is its 3 position recline which you can easily go to different positions with just one hand. It has the standard 5 point safety harness, but mind you that it’s padded. Nice, right! Storage is not a problem with this bad boy because of the spacious and easy-access storage basket under the seat with a rear pocket and a parent cup holder. It’s more than enough to keep your hands-free!

The Summer Infant 3D Zyre truly has tons of features to desire for that we also featured this as one of the most anticipated and best umbrella strollers of 2015. This costs slightly more than the 3D Lite, which is expected since the 3D Zyre is the improved version after all. Nonetheless, it’s reasonably priced around $160 but you can get it at a lower price on Amazon with free shipping which is a great deal without emptying your pockets! You get your needs while your child stays cozy and well-covered. It also got 4.6 out of 5 stars, clearly indicates it’s a great buy!

There is a newer version to this model which came out in 2016 and is now known as the Summer Infant 3D One. So if this piqued your interest, you might also want to check 3D-One as it could be the ‘one’ for you!

Mom’s Words of Advice…

When looking for one, make sure the canopy is large enough to keep your baby safe from the elements that could possibly harm them, but if you can get your hands on an umbrella stroller that features an adjustable canopy, even better! That way, on cloudier days, you can just pull it all the way back up so you can see your baby better, and they can see the world for themselves!
