A Closer Look on the First Years Ignite Stroller
I was searching for an umbrella stroller when I stumbled to the First Years Ignite Stroller. Its low price is definitely one of its selling point and what also piqued my interest. It is priced with not more than a hundred bucks yet it offers features that are usually present among strollers priced around $150 and above. And since it was my first time investing on an umbrella stroller, I didn’t want to spend a lot right away while being unsure if I would use it a lot of times. Fortunately enough, my decision to go with the Ignite was totally worth it and made me to fully embrace the use of umbrella strollers!
Due to its popularity, the First Years Ignite came out with various designs. You can go with a classic full-colored stroller or the ones with patterns on its seat. It even came out with a Disney umbrella stroller version called the First Years Ignite, Disney Minnie. But among all designs, the black and red color combination and all-black model called City Chic were by far the most well-received and stayed for a long time. I for one prefers the City Chic for a classier style that doesn’t get outdated and it wouldn’t looked dirtied easily.
The First Years Ignite is built with the latest euro styled frame and matched with the 100% Polyester material to ensure durability and endure wear and tear. It has a soft seat padding and is made with durable cushioned material so it’s really comfortable unlike others that only have thin fabrics. Plus, a great bonus most of you will be happy to know is that the handles are tall which is really great. My husband is around 6 feet tall and he can use it without me hearing a single complaint like having his knees or feet kicking the stroller. We both don’t get backaches since there’s no need to bend over just to push the thing. It also has a wider seat base when compared to strollers in the same price range. This allows your child to sit more comfortably, even for long walks, and still leave some room when your child grows. It has 8 large wheels, measured at 6″ diameter, with rear wheel brakes and front wheel swivel locks for a smooth ride and keep it in place when in full stop.
This is equipped with a 5 point harness which is one of the additional features I am really looking forward to secure my active boy from trying to play with the wheels and prevent him from doing face-plant when I hit a large bump. The wheels come with a tight turning radius, rear brakes and can swivel 360 degrees allowing for smooth maneuverability. And true enough, I can effortlessly push and turn it with ease. The wheels are also a little wider compared to average umbrella strollers, enabling it to be more stable and can take on different surface or flooring such as cobble-stoned, bricked and even terrain.
It weighs about 14 pounds. You can probably find others that are lighter than this, but its extra weight makes it a lot sturdier. As for me, the weight was never a problem. I still find it pretty light and easy to use when traveling. It folds up nicely and you can do a lot with it with just one hand. You can fold it, push it and maneuver it with just one hand.
The First Years Ignite can also recline far back and just right to allow your kid in a comfortable position to sleep or rest well after a long day. It also has a canopy but it is not too big that can cover almost the whole thing. But for me, it’s quite enough and it does the job just fine. It has a parent console and lower storage basket for extra space. The parent console adds more convenience as it provides extra storage that can hold some extra toys, snacks, small diaper bag. But because of the criss-cross design, it can be slightly tricky to access the bottom basket.
It will require you a bit of assembly but it is really easy and will not even take too much of your time. Once all the parts are fitted together, you are now ready to bring your kid to take on the world by storm! I find this as one of my top choice of best umbrella strollers since it can offer a lot of convenience and functions for the price and still provide the comfort for my child. But since this one cannot fully recline to 180 degrees, it is recommended to use this with your kid when they are equal or more than six months of age and it can hold up to a maximum of 50 pounds in weight. But even if you exceed a bit of its weight limit, it can still endure and will not fall apart easily.
Price and Where to Buy
It is packed with features for a reasonable price of around $80. But you can sometimes get it at a lower price from Amazon, which is why I like to make purchases from there because they offer the lowest price and they even deliver this straight to your door, mostly for free. Amazon is also a trusted online seller, provides excellent service and you can also find a lot of reviews from people who also bought it to help you make a better decision on your purchase.
The Ignite was really popular that it also received a high user rating score of 4.4 out of 5 customer satisfaction with more than hundreds of positive reviews! I really recommend this because this allows you to save up yet the features it offers feel like you bought an expensive one. However, like all good things in life, the Ignite is discontinued by the manufacturer so there are only limited stocks left in the market. Nevertheless, this is still one of the most recommended choice among parents before and even up to this day. If you’re lucky to chance upon its availability, I suggest that you buy it and don’t let it slip away. Should you buy the First Years Ignite Stroller, you will definitely not regret your decision. It is money well spent!
Sometimes you can also find the Ignite with a bumper bar for an extra safety precautions to let your child rest their hands on it or hang their toys. And if you happen to like this but prefers to have lighter in weight and also in price, you may also want to check the The First Years Jet. Another amazing offering from The First Years, it is pretty similar in features such as 5 pt. harness, canopy, tall handles, parent console and lower storage basket but lighter weighing only 11 pounds and at a cost of around $60.
