Best Umbrella Strollers 2018

Time flies so fast these days, and before I know it, a whole year just flew by! And you know what that means… Our annual round-up of the best umbrella strollers 2018 is finally here!

It’s been a while since I wrote a new post. And honestly, it didn’t help that 2018 came in dull for the baby stroller market. Hence, it was hard for me to decide which best umbrella strollers for the year to feature. Unlike in 2017, there were lots of new umbrella strollers that made the competition stiff. But this year, it’s the exact opposite!

There weren’t lots of new strollers that could make a splash this year worthy of your attention. So, it’s best to just stick with the old and tested models we already know so well. Or that’s what I thought until the old and tested models turned to better and newer versions of themselves!

*Spoiler alert*, I’m talking about the highly-anticipated and well-loved UPPAbaby umbrella strollers.

Okay, before we scream into excitement, there’s another gem that I think you’ll find pleasant. It’s great that we’re not just looking into improved versions of the stroller but actually find a new model of a stroller to get excited about. And I’m starting the with it for my list of best umbrella strollers 2018.

The Reviews

Graco Travelite Stroller

Graco TraveliteGraco has been around for over 60 years in making baby products. Staying that long in the business means having the expertise in providing solutions to parent’s needs. And true enough, they’re now one of the most reputable brands among baby products.

If you’re going to ask me, I could say I’m also a fan of their products. More so recently when they introduced their Graco Breaze Click Connect strollers! It was such a hit back in 2015 up to present, due to its well-thought-out design and functionality. Not only do you get a reliable umbrella stroller, but also allows you to use it as a travel system.

So, it’s no surprise to see another Graco stroller to make it as a contender for the best umbrella strollers 2018 list. And this time, you can enjoy the same quality standards from a reputable brand for a much affordable price with Graco Travelite.

Graco Travelite costs way cheaper than the Breaze and markets itself for the budget conscious parents. Hence, some capabilities of the Breaze are no longer present with Travelite. So no, you can’t use it to connect to a car seat anymore. It just works not far different from your average umbrella strollers, but still offers a bit more for a good price.

While its name suggests it to be lite, it’s not exactly the best lightweight umbrella stroller around. But I suppose, in exchange for the extra weight, you get a sturdier frame that won’t easily topple over. Furthermore, its weight is the last thing you need to worry as it is still very manageable at 15 pounds. After all, it has convenient designs that can let you stay on the go.

For one, it has a carry strap that makes it easy for you to bring it anywhere with you. Secondly, it folds quickly and compactly. You won’t even need to drop everything you’re holding just to operate this thing since you can fold it with just one hand. It also has a storage latch that will keep it nicely folded.

Although Travelite offers quite a bargain, you won’t feel they’ve cheaped out on features. Safety and comfort of your kid are never compromised. You get a standard safety harness that can grow with your child. Not literally, of course, but it is convertible. You can use its 5 point harness first. But as your baby grows, you can adjust it to a 3 point buckle. Moreover, its calf support is also adjustable to accommodate your baby’s growth. You can then flip the leg rest up too, so your tot’s feet won’t dangle down.

As a practical mom, I just love these “grow with your baby” features in strollers. It shows how Travelite tries to commit to staying with me and my kid for a long time. Then again, it breaks my heart that it can only hold a child up to 40 pounds. It would’ve been better if it’s up to 50 though, so I don’t really recommend this for big kids.

To ease our hearts, Graco throws in a removable arm bar for an additional boost on safety and comfort. It’s well-padded that lets your little tots hold on to something, especially during that bumpy ride.

In terms of comfort, the seat also has a decent amount of padding that won’t let your baby’s little bum sore after long hours of sitting. On top of that, the stroller can recline to multiple positions to find the right comfort for your child’s mood. Surprisingly, the size of the canopy is sufficient to actually provide shade.

As for parent’s convenience, the stroller offers a removable cup holder to keep you hydrated while on the go. And a large basket for your bags and other essentials, which you can easily access at the bottom. It also has a 1-step foot brake to easily put this on full stop!

Overall, Graco Travelite makes traveling with your baby with ease. While it’s not the lightest around in a sense, it packs just right for your travel needs! Not to mention, it has lockable-front swivel wheels with proper suspension for smooth and stable maneuverability. With no more than $60, you might as well consider this as one of the best cheap umbrella strollers as well. It is lite on the pocket but big for your travels with your baby.

UPPAbaby Umbrella Strollers

Uppababy glite and gluxe

After the appetizer, we’re now on to the main course – the UPPAbaby G-lite and G-luxe strollers! Yey! Having these 2 part of our best umbrella strollers 2018 list is no big surprise. After all, they’ve been fan favorites and my personal top picks for the best umbrella strollers throughout the years.

The UPPAbaby umbrella strollers have been around for quite a few years now and they’ve been warmly received. After a successful long run, it’s just about time that they shake things up to keep us on board.

Because let’s face it, we like to see new things! Just like how we always anticipate the new iPhone model to come out every year, despite their little upgrades. Luckily for us, we don’t have to worry about getting left behind the trends, since strollers don’t have to come out with new models yearly.

As for both UPPAbaby umbrella strollers, the most noticeable change is their fabulous facelift! Both strollers look sleeker and more premium. But they don’t just look good, they’re even sturdier than ever. Its aluminum frame feels thicker and more robust while keeping the stroller as light as possible.

Both of their canopies now have multi-panel knit, giving it a new shape and curvier look. I’m actually liking this new canopy design, and I feel like it’s working its purpose much better than before. The curve shape design looks bigger and provides better coverage. In fact, it looks like its old canopy with the sunshade already extended. And since the new canopy design still has an extendable UPF 50+ sunshade, using it will further enhance its sun coverage up to your baby’s body. Pretty neat!

Lastly, UPPAbaby has new wheels that are slightly bigger and now has better tracking. The bigger diameter, plus 4 wheel suspension, help absorb shocks and bumps from uneven terrains. While the G-lite still has 4 double wheels, the G-luxe has been replaced with single front wheels. In which, I might have some reservations about this alteration. Since changing double wheels into single wheel may have both pros and cons. So whether liking it or not will be up to you and how you’ll use the stroller often.

The good thing about double wheels is when one wheel falls into a crevice or crack, the other wheel can help it get out from being stuck. On the other hand, single wheel allows better handling of the stroller, even off-road surfaces. But I guess this works out fine since only the front wheels are replaced with single wheels. Whereas the back wheels still retain double wheels. In addition, the G-lite has 4.5-inch diameter wheels, while the G-luxe has 5.5-inch diameters.

UPPAbaby G-LITE Stroller

That pretty much sums up the major changes done to these 2 UPPAbaby strollers. It’s now time to get into the nitty-gritty features of the G-lite!

As you can already tell, the UPPAbaby G-lite is the lite version of G-luxe. And it’s partially similar to Graco Travelite, but for a heftier price tag. So with such similarity, why should you choose G-lite over Travelite? Well, if you’re really limited to budget then Travelite is the best for you. But if money is not an issue, then there are more reasons why G-lite could win you over.

Just by comparing the looks of the two, you can tell that the G-lite has better structure and material. It has a thicker aluminum steel frame that could last for years. In fact, it can carry a heavier weight of up to 55 pounds. That already says a lot despite being a lite version. The company didn’t just skimp out on quality materials.

Its canopy is totally unbeatable even without needing to extend its UPF sun shade. Staying true to its name, the G-lite is really lightweight for just 11.2 pounds. It helps that its seat does not have full padding so it doesn’t add more weight. Some parents may prefer a full-padded seat for the comfort of their child. But don’t worry, the bottom seat does having padding on them. While the mesh back provides breathability instead, which makes it really comfortable during extra hot days.

Although, I would like to see if they can incorporate a roll-up pad for the back similar to Kolcraft Cloud Umbrella Stroller. This way, we can cover up the mesh back during the cold season. On the other hand, in the event of accidental spills, the G-lite won’t easily get messy. That’s due to its fabric being stain and water resistant.

While the old G-lite doesn’t recline, the new version can now recline. But honestly, don’t expect too highly of the reclining capability as it only relies on a zipper recline. Still, I appreciate the gesture on their part.

Folding this thing is just as easy. There’s no need for extra feet action, just reach for a hand level trigger then fold it. It folds compactly and could fit inside car’s trunk no problem.

Lastly, you get the same benefits like the Travelite. From parent cup holder, carry strap, 5-point safety harness, ergonomic handles and an easy-access basket make up for its complete package. Keep in mind that its basket has a 10-pound weight limit.

So what makes the UPPAbaby G-Lite part of the best umbrella strollers 2018 list is due to its quality build. When you don’t want a bulky and expensive stroller, then light umbrella strollers are the next best thing. However, some of them tend to be too flimsy and unsafe for your kids, especially the inexpensive ones. But with UPPAbaby G-lite, you know you and your baby are in good hands. While it’s far from being cheap, it’s an investment well worth it. It has a robust built while staying very lightweight with features you can trust.

UPPAbaby G-LUXE Stroller

Now if you want the deluxe version of the G-Lite, then you gotta have the G-Luxe! It has all features of the G-Lite with few more to offer. However, having more features mean gaining more weight. As a result, it’s understandably heavier at 16.3 pounds.

So what do you get in exchange for the additional weight? For one, the stroller looks fuller. The seat is roomier and now has full padding. The canopy is slightly longer than G-lite, but both still have an extendable UPF 50+ sunshade.

The fabric stays water and stain resistant. But since it’s not full-proof from any dirt, you still have to occasionally clean the stroller to prevent any germs or bacteria build-up. Fortunately, it’s now easier for you to clean the G-luxe as its fabric is removable and washable. You can keep the stroller clean, thereby, keeping your baby safe.

You also get to appreciate a better folding and reclining mechanism of the G-luxe. You still just have to reach for the hand-level trigger to fold this thing. However, it can stand on its own even when folded. Hence, it stays clean and keeps you hands-free! It doesn’t have to touch the ground and get dirty while you put stuff inside your car.

Since this is a deluxe version we’re talking, you’re getting more reclining positions out of the G-luxe. It has multiple reclining positions while it’s so easy to operate. It only takes one hand to switch positions. Pair it with an adjustable footrest, and you get the most comfortable stroller for your little one to sit or take a nap on.

Other than that, you get the same benefits of a cup holder, spacious basket, convenient carry-strap, 5-point safety harness and tall, ergonomic handles. While its big and shock-absorbing wheels with a one-step brake help to maneuver and control this thing much easier. Lastly, you can start using the G-luxe for your kids as early as their 3 months of age, against the usual recommendation of 6 months.

With not more than hundred bucks difference from the G-lite, you definitely are getting more bells and whistles out of the G-Luxe. While it may require a little investment on your part, it’s definitely gonna go a long way. With the quality components of G-luxe has, it will most likely outlive the average life of a handful of umbrella strollers! So you get loads of features for your money and makes the most out of it for a long time. Considering this as just part of the best umbrella strollers 2018 is an understatement, as it sure will compete well with others year after year.

Honorable Mention

Chicco New Liteway Stroller

UPPAbaby isn’t the only brand with new facelift strollers. Chicco has also decided to bring in a new look for their Chicco Liteway lineup. Although the Chicco brand has always been a household name for baby products, the New Liteway didn’t make the cut for my best umbrella strollers 2018 list. It’s not because it’s not good, but I just find the stroller to still be closely similar to its previous models for it to make a buzz for 2018.

It just didn’t get me as excited as when I saw the new UPPAbaby umbrella strollers. There weren’t as much as new features or upgrades to expect from the New Liteway, except for the overall look. Nevertheless, the new Liteway still makes a great option for your stroller needs. It is just as good and reliable as its previous version. After all, they say, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!

The features of the Liteway are like the combination of the 3 strollers I just reviewed. It has some of the limits of a Travelite but has the strengths of the UPPAbaby’s. For one thing, it can only hold a weight of up to 40 pounds, despite having aluminum components. On the bright side, due to its aluminum frame, the Chicco Liteway is just as durable, but not as expensive as the UPPAbaby.

When it comes to your child’s comfort, Chicco’s seat also has full padding with fabrics that are removable and washable. You can then adjust its backrest to 4 various positions, as well as its leg rest for proper support.

And although the size of its canopy is not far bigger than the Travelite, its canopy is more functional. It looks more sturdy, has peek-a-boo window and is removable. The usual cup holder, padded handles, basket and carry handle are also present. While keeping the stroller in place when parked is easily done with its toe-tap rear brakes.

The only major complaint I have, which is still isn’t improved with the new model, is its actual weight. The Chicco Liteway happens to be the heaviest in the group at 17.2 pounds.

Other than that, the Chicco Liteway makes the definition of the best umbrella stroller for an affordable price. It’s slightly lacking against UPPAbaby G-Luxe but is way more superior than Graco Travelite for not more than 100 bucks.

The Round-Up

Although there ain’t as many stroller options to choose from this year, the best umbrella strollers 2018 are enough to make your travel goals with baby into a reality! They work wonderful, just as they look fabulous.

The Graco Travelite is a dependable umbrella stroller that perfect for the budget-conscious parents. On the other hand, the UPPAbaby G-lite is travel buddy treasure. It’s lightweight, making it easy to travel with, plus it has all the necessary features of an umbrella stroller in a durable package. Lastly, the UPPAbaby G-luxe is the complete package that is sure to make the most out of your stroller investment.

Just because they make it as the best umbrella strollers 2018 doesn’t mean they’re only good for this year. I’m pretty sure, whichever stroller you decide to buy will surely make wonderful memories with you year after year. Happy strolling!

Best Umbrella Stroller Travel Systems Grow with Your Baby

best umbrella stroller travel systems

After the day we gave birth to our sweet little angel, the number of times we go out have surely gone down. For obvious reasons, we can’t really leave our child alone in the house or the thought of bringing such a young infant could spell a disaster. We have to carry our baby while having to bring our own personal stuffs and essential baby items!

But inevitably, we have to go out from time to time because staying in the house all day isn’t exactly good for either you or the baby. Going out can mean just having that leisurely stroll around the park or even just around the block, to getting some groceries at the supermarket, to getting your dry-cleaning. The point is, having a child definitely does not mean you have to stop going out! It’s great for your baby because your little one gets to experience the different things found in the outside world. There are tons of things to stimulate the child; fresh air and a little of sun exposure can also be good for your baby’s health! While for parents like us, we get to see our child’s experience, do our household errands as well as having a few nice conversations with friends or random acquaintances we eventually bump into while we’re out!

We can all do these with the help of a travel system, since we can have a stroller for our long walks while having an infant car seat will secure them inside the car. And here’s the best part, there are now tons of great travel systems that are paired with an umbrella stroller! Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller

Graco Breaze Click Connect

Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller has caught my attention since 2015 and continues to make a buzz ever since. The Graco Breaze will surely make an easy outdoor buddy for you and your baby. This umbrella stroller has a sturdy built that can withstand wear and tear with proper care, so it’s here to stay from the time you used it with your baby until he or she grows up old enough to not need one. It is after all designed to accommodate newborns, most especially if you buy this as a travel system which includes the infant car seat, until your kid reaches its weight limit of 50 pounds. Even a heavy preschooler can probably still ride this, as long as it still looks and holds up pretty fine. It is fuss-free and easy to use, making this is as one of the best umbrella stroller travel system especially for new and anxious parents.

When it comes to ease of use, this is the way to go. If you have a small frame and little to no physical strength like me, handling it will be no problem at all. For more than 17 pounds, it’s definitely not the lightest, but the weight is still manageable and proves that it is heavy duty . The materials used has solid frame and thick fabric that can withstand some rough handling.

It maneuvers well, folds with a  simple push and pull on 2 buttons and its overall size is just right. You can carry the Graco Breaze umbrella stroller around and into the car as easily as any regular umbrella strollers. It also folds small enough that it can fit it into the trunk of a hatchback car. You can even handle it with just one hand if needed. This comes in very handy and offers a lot of help and convenience when it comes to buying your daily groceries on your own.

The Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller boasts its features that allows it to “grow” with your child from birth even without the infant car seat, which is what I like the most about it. To further explain, some umbrella stroller units only have two positions but this one is highly adjustable with multi positions recline which includes laying completely flat! The calf support  is also adjustable to comfortably support an infant then adjust it to accommodate a toddler as time goes by. It also has a roomy seat that will allow your little tot to grow into it. When it comes to safety issues, it also got your baby covered. It has 5 point safety harness to tightly secure your little one then convert it to 3 point as your child grows bigger.

As a travel system, you can use this with any Graco click connect car seats, which is great if you have newborns and if you don’t want to wake your baby up during and after the travel period. Upon arrival of your destination, you can just take the car seat with you and connect it to the stroller without disturbing your baby from his or her sleep since the car seat can just snap right in! It’s definitely a two thumbs up for me!

Additional details that I came to like are its oversized canopy which gives UV 50+ protection. That’s plenty of shade and had proven handy during outdoor nap times. Its canopy also has a cute peek-a-boo window which is a nice touch to let you check on your little tot every now and then. The extra-large storage basket underneath can fit your diaper bag and some more baby essentials.

Although there are just a few things I like to take note of. First off is its breaks which can get a little tricky as you have to make sure the wheels align correctly. The one-step brake feature is convenient but takes getting used to. But once the front-swivel wheels have their locks on, it will never fail you. Another thing is the cup holder found on the side. It can get stuck on tight grocery spaces which is a little annoying, but over-all, still manageable. The Graco Breaze package doesn’t come with a child tray, but only a parent cup holder and basket. So if you find needing one, you will have to buy it separately. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t consider this a deal breaker since majority of umbrella strollers don’t include child trays as well. Furthermore, this umbrella stroller’s features are far superior for its price range.

Graco Breaze Travel SystemIf you’re planning on buying just the stroller, the Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller is available for not more than $150 with free shipping and returns from Amazon. Although, you can save a bit more if you buy them as a travel system for not more than $220. The Graco Breaze is well-praised and a tough contender to beat, with even receiving a high rating of 4.7 starts out of 5. It is a must buy and simply the best umbrella stroller travel system at a great price!

Maxi-Cosi Kaia Stroller

Another great umbrella stroller that can also works as travel system is the Maxi-Cosi Kaia. They’ve been around the scene for quite some time now but isn’t one of the top of the mind strollers in the market. But it definitely packs a lot of potential to be one. If you’re really out for a 2 in 1 light stroller, this is one impeccable stroller that you shouldn’t miss out.  Although it is not the lightest for an umbrella stroller, its 15 pounds of weight, surely is still light enough that won’t go in your way when travelling. It’s also one of the only available strollers that can accept an infant car seat without being heavy at all.

The maneuverability and ease of use of this one is a game changer! If you find yourself having second thoughts on bringing a stroller on your vacation or on any long trips because the ones you have before are heavy and bulky, add to that your young infant and luggages; you find yourself hands full and no more room for extra baggage. Well, that will be all in the past once you get yourself a Kaia stroller. The wheels turned nicely, it handled bumps and dips in the sidewalks or streets with ease. The foot break comes in very handy and easy to use. And while it was easy to push/maneuver with both hands, I wish it had a crossbar steering handle so you could push it one-handed.

Kaia Maxi-Cosi is commendable as it’s compact and you can rely on it to hold your child and provide an extra hand in carrying some of your bags at the bottom basket or hang it on its handle. It won’t tip over easily, just make sure not to hang heavy bags on its handle. The space between the basket and seat is large enough to be able to access it from the side when the child is on the seat. It is definitely one that you could easily travel with on air or take on the road without a huge hassle.

As a travel system, it can be used with a Maxi-Cosi Mico Nxt or the Mico AP infant car seat. The adapter used to connect these car seats is already included in the package which is pretty awesome! You’d also appreciate how easy it is to put together. The Kaia is the easiest in its class to collapse and reassemble, the hallmark of what the best umbrella stroller travel systems should be. Folding it might feel overwhelming to some at first but once you get used to it, it becomes a breeze. It takes just one pop of the back foot lock and then just squeeze the handles and the whole thing folds up into a nice compact package, one that even stands upright on its own. I always find this as one the “nice to have” features because it brings convenience and prevents the stroller from getting dirtied as you don’t have to lay it down on the floor while you load your bags inside the car.

What I really like about Kaia is the 5 point harness buckle on the stroller that was a bit different than most of the other buckles on car seats or strollers. This one was interlocking, like a puzzle-piece, which made it much harder for my toddler to undo by himself. I didn’t have any problem with it at all while I liked it that he had a harder time unbuckling himself. Maybe this will keep him in the stroller and comfortably restrained. I definitely say, this safety feature is a plus point.

The Kaia can fit your little kid of up to 50 lbs. of weight. That’s pretty much the standard nowadays and still leaves you a lot of room for your baby to grow. This stroller also has an extended leg rest and foot rest that can be adjusted as needed. This is sturdy enough to seat my four year old toddler; he can even fall asleep on it comfortably.

I love the flash of color, it is fierce and do stand out well. Most models sport solid colors, though there are two that have prints on them. But I love the intense red that you’ll easily get fond of because it’s truly eye-catching and makes your baby stands out. It’s bright and looks polished. You can also check out the all black unit for a classic touch.

If there’s one thing I’d like it to improve on, that would be its reclining capabilities. This one can lay flat so you can’t use this with newborns. So you should only use this if your child is already six months of age or if they can already sit up on their own. Otherwise, I highly recommend that you buy this with the infant car seats to fully maximize what this can do. Also, you get better value for your money if you buy them together than separately.

The stroller alone will costs you between $160 to $250, but you can avail it with the Mico as a travel system, it will be available at an average of 300 bucks, still with free shipping of course in Amazon. It also garnered a positive score of 4.5 stars out of 5 which is clearly proves that this is one of the best umbrella stroller travel system. With proper care and all, this can be your only stroller for your newly born baby until he or she outgrows it. Thus, this makes for a great investment in the long run!

The Reviews

Summer Infant 3D Lite

First on my list is the Summer Infant 3D Lite. This stroller has already made its presence since last year, so you might wonder what makes this a perfect choice for 2015? Well, for one thing, the manufacturer also produced a newer and improved model of it this year. But that’s not really important because honestly, there are only slight changes such as having a stronger plastic for the footrest, the Crotch harness flap was removed and they made an improved folding and carrying system which is claimed to have better auto-lock functions.

But regardless of whether you opt for its 2014 or 2015 model, the Summer Infant 3D Lite never gets old! After all, it is still one of our best umbrella strollers to date! Why you ask? It’s already proven that it has the basic features you’ll ever need in a stroller for an affordable price. No stroller was ever made this year to ever compare with its features considering its price range. So with that said, I’m highlighting this one for parents out to buy A STROLLER WITH BUDGET ON MIND!

It also has features that you can find from umbrella strollers that are worth more of its price range. It didn’t come short when it comes to durability and safety despite its inexpensive price tag. And it still looks pretty or even more elegant than the others. It came with various bright and playful colors on its canopy. It is also not just there to make it look pretty but is very useful. It is adjustable and has a sun visor for the extra protection against UV rays which is perfect during sunnier days. While its large storage basket is handy for those mommies who love to bring lots of stuff while strolling.

It is easy to maneuver and folds effortlessly compact to easily fit the trunk of your car or put it in storage. However few seems to have trouble keeping the 2015 Summer Infant 3D to stay open. This may be an isolated case but it’s better to be sure so when you order and receive the item, inspect the stroller right away in case a faulty one is delivered to you. But no worries, Amazon provides excellent free shipping and return services. Also, it might be good practice to keep the stroller open for few days after receiving it just to let the stroller get the hang of it.

The stroller has a large seat area and has high handles. So that’s a great news for tall parents! If you are 5’8” in height or taller, you won’t need to worry about having to hunch over just to operate this thing. It has a 5-point harness that can be adjusted to 3 points when your child grows and has multi-position recline functions to almost flat! Its features alone are enough to close the deal but pair it with an affordable price, then I’m definitely sold! This is the best choice for you looking to buy an umbrella stroller with a price ranging from $70-$100!

Maclaren Mark II

Now if the price is not what matters the most to you and you happen to really like to travel a lot, then I’m sure you’ll love what’s next on my list – the Maclaren Mark II! Nothing beats its superior featherweight feature! It’s not even more than 7.4 pounds, so imagine how light it is and how easy it will be for you to bring it anywhere! You won’t even need to take your baby out to carry it. You can even lift it with just one hand or even with just a few of your fingers, totally effortless. You may think that since it is light, it’s going to tip over easily as well. WRONG! Despite its weight, it is designed with aircraft-grade aluminum hexagonal tubing providing durable composure that even if you hung your bags or groceries on its handles, it will not tip over easily. It can even hold your kid’s weight of up to 55 pounds. Kudos to Maclaren!

Strollers are usually folded with two hands and innovation brought us these with a one-hand folding feature. But Maclaren takes it to another level by offering us a NO-HAND folding mechanism! It’s pretty cool, and just one of the things why I like this. It’s pretty clear at this point that having a kid around means having a lot of things to bring so having two hands free from folding the stroller is a huge plus. You can fold it with just a nudge of two or three with your foot while you carry your child on one hand and your other bags or stuff on the other hand. Oh, and of course, it folds compactly as well. And speaking of innovation, this also offers antimicrobial handles. We can’t really be sure if it’s 100% reliable but it’s a good attempt for the handles managing to stay clean on some level.

The only thing I don’t like about it is its inability to recline. It only has 1 seat position which is not very ideal for babies and sleepy heads. And it’s because of this, the Maclaren Mark II is only good for babies who are six months of age and up or to babies who can sit on their own.

But compared to that setback, there are more reasons to love it aside from its already winning features I mentioned earlier. It can fit almost anywhere since it is easy to push on subways and also fit through narrow aisles. Its 4-wheel suspension is very easy to maneuver on even over uneven terrain, the seat panel of this stroller keeps children comfortable. The waterproof hood and extendable sun visor are also cool and useful. It has a mesh part on its seat which is a great design to consider so it will not feel too hot for our little ones from sitting on it for too long. The peek-a-boo window is also a nice add-on just so we can take a peak and check on how our kid is doing. Lastly, its package includes a rain cover and carry strap.

With the long list of features it offers, it’s not a surprise that it’s a bit pricier than the other lightweight strollers. You can buy this for not more than $200, but the features you get out of this is totally worth it. If it is only a matter of traveling with convenience, hands down this will be your best bet! The Maclaren Mark II does not weigh too much, but this what makes it a heavy contender. And it’s definitely leaving a mark on my best umbrella strollers 2015 list.

Baby Jogger Vue

Next on my list is the Baby Jogger Vue 2015 Lite. The very first thing that I noticed and have always fancied about it is its uniqueness – it is reversible! It’s hard to find umbrella strollers that can face both ways. And true enough, this is its selling point even with its 2014 version. I just love its reversible seat as I find it very useful and handy to use. Watching over your kids is made easier with this feature since you can now have them face you any time you want. It can do so much even with its seat reversed! Considering how easy it is to flip it with just one hand and can still have a deep recline while in reverse are just “AWE-mazing”. No need to take it apart and turn the whole seat just to put it in inverse position. Throw in a lightweight feature of about 14.5 pounds, it’s no wonder why I had fallen in love with it even before and up until now.

The large canopy is great because it can cover the baby better from the sun, although it would be nice to have a peek-a-boo window on its canopy. Nonetheless, it’s not hard to just stop for a bit and lean forward to check on how your baby is doing. My only concern about this stroller is that I have had a hard time accessing the bottom basket to put or get my baby’s essentials since it’s not that big.

I like the available colors and style of this stroller, you can choose from 4 varied colors.  Its cool harness is a go-setter and easy to put together. Needless to say that this Baby Jogger Vue 2015 Lite is way much better than its last year’s version since it is lighter, where the 2014 series weighs at 17.4 pounds. Another thing I also love is its easy compact fold, which can be done by one hand as well. The best thing about the Baby Jogger Vue 2015 Lite is its reliability – it is tried and tested by several mommies and daddies who gave it a great review, accumulating a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. It’s also available for not more than $180, which is not expensive at all considering its unique features to offer.

Uppababy G-Luxe 2015

Speaking of tried and tested umbrella strollers, another one that made on the list is the UPPAbaby 2015 G-Luxe Stroller. Almost every year that UPPababy introduces a newer version, and it just keeps getting better. This year UPPAbaby 2015 G-Luxe Stroller is at its finest. It’s one of my personal all-time favorites as I have featured it quite a few times already and you can read my comprehensive review of it here. But to give you a quick look, allow me to tell you what is so good about the G-Luxe.

Just the name alone, it pretty much claims to be a luxury stroller for your kid. It has high handles, a very plus points for tall parents and hard to find from inexpensive umbrella strollers I’m sure! The canopy is remarkable and easy to open. It is removable, height adjustable and even has an extendable SPF 50 to provide actual protection and prevent direct sunlight. This time they added the one action brake for easier maneuverability and improved construction with lighter aluminum frame for a robust profile, durability and lighter weight. This one only weighs at 15 pounds. Its fabrics and seat are also removable so you can wash it to stay clean and keep your child’s hygiene. It can also recline to almost flat and adjustable leg rest for comfortable long sitting for your little angel. And as always, it’s easy to operate as you can effortlessly fold and unfold and recline it with just one hand. These are all the qualities that every parent will ever need in a stroller and I found them with Uppababy G-Luxe.

The G-Luxe retained its stylish look but with darker tones and more colors to choose from. Its average price is $259.99 with free shipping and got 4.6 ratings out of 5. While it does seem to be quite expensive as compared to the other brands of umbrella strollers, but that’s simply the price you have to pay to get a trusted brand and make an investment worth with better returns.

Summer Infant 3D Flip

2015 is a great year for Summer Infant because aside from its 3D Convenience stroller, it successfully introduced 2 more models that are sure hits! If you want a reversible umbrella stroller for a lower cost than the Baby Jogger Vue then I’m sure you will love the Summer Infant 3D Flip. Its basic features come with the 5 point safety harness, 6-position multi-recline, oversized one-hand adjustable canopy with peek-a-boo window, parent cup holder, storage pockets and the reversible seat design.

But since it also comes with the unique quality that the Baby Jogger Vue has, it’s inevitable that they are being compared often. There are really no other reversible umbrella strollers worth mentioning except for these two. But if I need to choose just one between the two, I’d likely cash out few more bucks to get the Jogger Vue. Before you ask why just hear me out! The Baby Jogger Vue has already been tested and when it comes to the reversible feature, they’re first. I also find the fabric used on Vue to be thicker and feels like it won’t rip open easily.  And although Summer Infant 3D Flip weighs slightly lighter than the Vue which is actually a good thing, weighing at 14 and 14.5 pounds respectively, the Vue, on the other hand, can hold up to 55 pounds while the 3D Flip has a maximum weight recommendation of 50 pounds. So basing on these, I think the Vue can stick around with me longer. The extra cash out is worth it.

Nevertheless, the 3D Flip can still throw some punches and knock out other competitions, after all it is an awesome package for a reasonable price and free shipping service if bought from Amazon. From $150, you may usually get this at a bargain of $130 or lower which would really make this even a sweeter deal! Get the Summer Infant 3D Flip to get a reversible umbrella stroller for an affordable price.

Summer Infant 3D Zyre

Now let’s move on to 3D Flip’s brother, the Summer Infant 3D Zyre. With one look, its OVERSIZED canopy is the first thing you will notice. Talk about total cover and protection from the elements, the 3D Zyre is an obvious choice and makes Joovy fans waver on their loyalty! It even got a peek-a-boo window feature on its canopy as well to let you easily check on your child anytime you want. Clearly, this is the bump up version of the 3D Lite.

It’s slightly heavier with a weight of 13 pounds, but definitely not a deal breaker since it is still pretty light for me and it has more improved qualities to be “D-Zyred” about. Get it? Sorry for the lame pun… But 3D Zyre does resonate something to desire. For one, its hand grips have an added padding contoured foam for extra comfort for us parents; while its harness is also padded to secure our baby without making them feel uneasy on their seat and sore on their bodies.  It can also recline in 3 positions, switching them over with just one-hand. Folding it is easy with 3 simple steps of lifting its rear handle, pushing the lever with your foot and folding it that auto locks in place. It comes with a carry strap so carrying it around will never be a hassle. It also has a cup holder, 3 pockets with zipper and easy access storage basket at the bottom which always have been convenient add-ons to have.

In the end, the 3D Zyre successfully meets our 3C’s or criteria for an awesome umbrella stroller: Comfort, Convenience and Confidence. With 3D Zyre’s features, it’s pretty clear how it delivers great comfort and convenience to us and our babies. But we are also confident with it that it will keep our little angel safe and not let us down. With price being sold about $160, you may get big discounts when you buy it from Amazon with free shipping; plus it got a high satisfaction rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars.

The 3D Zyre now has a successor which we currently know as Summer Infant 3D One which I also featured for the best umbrella strollers for 2016. So, if the 3D Zyre has piqued your interest, then you shouldn’t miss out on it! After all, that could be the “One” for you.

Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller

And finally, but definitely not the least, is the Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller. Among all in the list, this one is actually the heaviest with a weight of 17.5 pounds. However, what’s so special about it is its ability to connect to travel system. It accepts all Graco Click Connect infant car seats with only one-step attachment to create own travel system. The infant car seat and car seat base are sold separately though, so you will have to buy them to get the most of its potential. If you’ll think about it, infant car seats are also useful especially when your child is still young so this helps to keep your baby safe in the car while traveling. If you have the extra budget, it would be nice to get them all together. You can even get a special lower price rather buying them separately.

No question on its durability and it can carry your kid up to 50 pounds. It also grows with your child since it has an adjustable footrest and has a convertible 3 to 5 point harness, so rest assured that this stroller can be used for a longer time. The height is just perfect for me, so no worries about having a sore back from hunching over it. I also find its easy-fold mechanism wonderful, not only does it auto locks in place to keep it folded, it can also stand on its own while folded. This way, I won’t have to put it down and get it dirtied while I put my bags and groceries inside the car.  Although some have noted that it gets unlocked easily so it would be nice to double the lock on your own.

Your kid will be able to sleep or nap comfortably during the long walks since the Graco Breaze has a multi-position recline, handled with just one hand, that can even lie flat without having to put the car seat; thus makes this a terrific choice especially when your child is still in infant stage. The large and padded seat gives extra comfy as well. The canopy successfully does its job in blocking sunrays and not just there as a display. It is approximately at 26”, large enough to provide proper shade and it also got an extendable visor with UV 50+ protection and peek-a-boo window. More features that moms and dads will surely like are its huge storage basket at the bottom, easy maneuverability with one-step action brake and wheels that are surely secured.

Its price is pretty average and can still fit in your budget. It’s roughly around $150, but usually available at a lower price. And it got a stellar rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a well-designed stroller that packs lots of useful functions. And as its name suggests, taking our little angel out for a walk will be easy breezy.

Best Umbrella Stroller For Infants, Your Baby’s First Buddy

Best Umbrella Strollers For Infants

Is bringing your newborn child out for quick trips problematic for you?  Every time we go out with our baby, we need to prepare and bring lots of baby essentials such as diapers, milk, extra clothing and more, that our hands are already full to carry our baby. It’s a good thing that we have a reliable stroller to help us. But like most things in life, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach, and with strollers. It’s been a constant challenge for parents to find that one perfect stroller for them. If we want a stroller to use with newborn babies, we need to buy the standard size strollers, which can be really heavy for us to bring outside or even carry in public transits.

However, we, moms, are advised not to lift heavy things after giving birth so we can have fast recovery from our delivery. It’s a good a thing and sweet of my husband to help me, but I can’t rely on him all the time like when he’s out for work, right? So I wanted to get an umbrella stroller because they are made for that very purpose: to be more mobile, easy to maneuver and travel-friendly.

Unfortunately, most umbrella strollers are only recommended to use with 6 months or older babies. They are not ideal to use with infants due to limited reclining and security features. So, for parents to buy all these beautiful, gorgeous, and incredibly functional strollers, not to mention expensive if the stroller is too heavy to use or unable to fit our small child, then they are pretty much useless! That’s just an investment you threw out the window and you definitely do not want that to happen.

When your baby is still in infancy, which is medically described as ages from birth up to 12 months, it is equally important to give your baby some exposure to sun, and while this is all good and well, most strollers surprisingly cannot accommodate children who are younger than three months. If you use an umbrella stroller that is not designed for infants, this could just lead to all sorts of trouble for your child. You may be comfortable with your state-of-the-art umbrella stroller, but you might just be putting your precious little baby in danger, and that’s definitely something we would not want happening. This is why I have put together a quick list of the best umbrella strollers for infants!

Overview of the Best Umbrella Strollers for Infants

Best Umbrella Strollers for Infants

There are only few umbrella strollers available to use with infants, and these strollers are the best in the market. I looked closely at their reclining capabilities as well as other features that are very helpful and convenient to use for parents and newborns.

The Reviews

Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller

Graco Breaze Click Connect

Whenever I see the Graco Breaze Click Connect Stroller, my mind almost immediately goes to the thought that it looks exactly like what old classic baby strollers would be if they were made into a modern design. It’s quite surprising because the Graco Breaze appears like any normal umbrella stroller except for the fact that it bears all these beautiful classic curves that are both functional and elegant! Other than the shape of the stroller itself, the Graco Breaze Click Connect Umbrella Stroller also comes in a variety of cool and classy colorways such as Azalea, Chili Red, Harris, and Pierce!

But that’s enough about me gushing over how adorable this umbrella stroller is and let’s get right down to business! Not only is the Graco Breaze a joy to behold, it also has amazing features to boot! First, this is, by far, the easiest folding umbrella stroller around. With its super easy one-hand fold, stowing away the Graco Breaze is, well, a complete breeze! Just with this first feature, going out with your child becomes all the more easy and all the more fun! You can just simply hold your baby with one free hand and the other to initiate the one-handed fold and you don’t even have to worry because of the auto-lock when the stroller is folded.

The Click Connect feature comes incredibly handy as this umbrella stroller is completely compatible with any of Graco’s SnugRide Click Connect infant car seats that now quickly works like a travel system and really makes a solid mark to be one of the best umbrella strollers for infants. You get the best of both worlds. An infant car seat is a great and safe way to keep your baby secured inside the car as well. Then, instead of just carrying the car seat around, you can combine it with this stroller.

When your child eventually grows out the infant stage, you can readily use the Graco Breaze as an umbrella stroller, which is a very convenient and well-made investment. If you already own one, then you will really love the Click Connect feature of the Graco Breaze! To keep you at ease, you will immediately know that the car seat is completely fastened when you hear that satisfying click! This umbrella stroller is not the lightest around when compared to Maclaren Mark II or Chicco Capri stroller, but it’s still not too heavy to carry. It weighs about 17.5 pounds, still pretty handy to lift in and out of your car, making going out as easy and hassle-free as possible!

In terms of your baby’s comfort, the Graco Breaze has a multi-position reclining seat that even lies flat! So actually, even without the car seat, this is still the perfect choice to use with your infant child. This is also especially wonderful fit for different settings. Whether it’s time for the baby to explore the world around or take a nap in the umbrella stroller, the Breaze Click Connect is ready for your every mood!

Other than this, the stroller is beautifully crafted for maximum maneuverability with its lockable front-swivel wheels with suspension to keep the umbrella stroller from sliding all over the place. While the convertible 3 or 5 point harness is designed to grow with your child and keeping them completely secure and in place at the same time! The extra-large canopy, other than being a thing of total beauty, features a UPF or Ultraviolet Protection Factor of 50+ ensures that your child is safe from the ravages of too much sunlight. If you feel like this isn’t enough, there’s even an additional visor that pops out to your rescue!

Lastly, one of my favorite things about the Graco Breaze is that it grows with your baby. Aside from its convertible harness, it also features an adjustable calf support for different sizes of babies so they can ride in full comfort regardless of the stage of growth. You can definitely save a lot by investing in the Breaze Click Connect especially since it can accommodate a child up to a weight of 50 pounds!

All these useful and convertible packages are reasonably priced at around $125 to $170, that also comes with a free shipping deal from Amazon. You don’t have to hassle yourself going through malls while carrying your child since it’s just a click away and this will be quickly delivered straight to your home! It is also my best choice for 2015 and still a tough opponent to beat for best umbrella strollers 2016. Start making your errands and trips to malls easy-breezy” and a lot more enjoyable with your little angel.

The MacLaren Quest Stroller

A rare trait that the MacLaren Quest has is its features appropriate for kids straight from birth and in a sense “grow” along with your child because this stroller can hold up to 55 pounds! This stroller will stick with you and your kid for quite some time, which is a quality many parents have been keeping an eye out for because most umbrella strollers only accommodate children at least six months and beyond.

The seat can be reclined four positions with the one-hand recline to keep your baby comfortable while the stroller’s infant system has a cocooning head and foot barrier which will keep your child even more protected from dangerous elements. And since the Quest boasts its “grow” with your child feel, it also has an extendable leg rest with memory position, so you don’t have to keep on adjusting its leg rest every time you fold and unfold this thing.

The MacLaren Quest lineup has been a family favorite from all over the world for several years now. Your baby is safe and sound with the Quest’s 5 point harness and full recline capability. It is also convenient to use where you can adjust the seat from a full recline to an upright position single-handedly. The leg rest can be extended to accommodate your growing child.

The UV Protected window is a welcome addition because protection is always a top priority, but in this case, the baby can still see the outside world, minus the UV rays which can cause some serious damage. An extra storage pocket is located conveniently on the canopy and it’s also water resistant just in case it rains! It has a storage basket to put any extra stuff you might not want to hold all day and if you aren’t satisfied with the water resistant canopy, a rain cover is also included in the package when the weather suddenly goes bad to keep your baby safe from the downpour. Handy, right?

Its Reflective accents are there to keep your stroller illuminated whenever you decide to go out at night for a short stroll. This avoids accidents and is a surprising aesthetic addition to the stroller’s overall design and appearance! The carry strap makes the stroller easy to bring around when not in use, and the one-handed compact umbrella fold makes closing it absolutely hassle free! The high-performance aluminum chassis ensures a solid, quality build, but promises an incredibly lightweight frame of 12.6 pounds by using aluminum for the body.

Lastly, the removable washable seat fabric is a welcome perk since we all know the kind of mess that our kids can sometimes leave. Finally, the MacLaren Quest promises a mess-free and fuss-free cruising with a design you can trust.

Everything you really need is here, it’s a whole package that makes it one of the best umbrella strollers for infants. But with all its perks and features, it costs not more than $300. Nevertheless, if you want all the best features for your little angel that will last for a long time, then this is for you and it is totally worth the investment! If you find this interesting, you can also check the Maclaren Techno XT which can also be used with infants.

The Chicco Liteway Plus Stroller

With over 60 years of expertise on baby products, Chicco has now made itself a household name among parents. True enough, their products guarantee quality that lasts. Backed with long years of experience, you know you and your baby will be in good hands of Chicco. Hence, you can trust Chicco to be the first stroller to take care of your baby as he or she grows old, particularly the Chicco Liteway Plus!

Chicco Litway Plus is basically a bump up version of Chicco Liteway. If you don’t know, Chicco Liteway just happens to be one of the all-time best umbrella strollers around. However, Chicco Liteway is not advisable to use for newborns. So instead, you should be getting the Liteway Plus since you’re actually getting the same benefits from a Liteway, plus its ability to accommodate infants! But in order to do that, you also have to invest in a Keyfit infant car seat.

The Chicco Liteway Plus works similar to Graco Breaze wherein you can connect infant car seat to this stroller. It is crucial to travel with the right gears when traveling with newborns in order to ensure their safety. And an infant car seat is definitely on that must-have list. So while you may feel you have to pay an extra for the car seat, you’re actually saving up more in the long run with the Liteway Plus, since it’s already a carrier and stroller in one.

Once your infant grows up and needs an actual stroller, you can still use the Liteway Plus since it can hold a weight of up to 50 pounds. The Chicco Liteway Plus folds forward to accept Keyfit infant car seats, which just so happens to be rated as the top infant car seats around as well! Thus, you’re getting the best in both car seat and stroller territories.

Having the Liteway Plus, however, means getting a plus size, or in short, a heavier stroller. Chicco Liteway Plus isn’t exactly lightest anymore at 19 pounds. Nevertheless, the additional weight is in compensation for a more solid aluminum frame for durability. It also looks sleek and stylish with its fashion-forward design of colors, as well as modern tailoring, elliptical tubing, and high tech wheels.

Furthermore, it can still fold compactly inside your car’s trunk. Its automatic storage latch keeps it folded, while a carry handle helps you in transporting this around with ease. An easy fold-and-go mechanism makes the Chicco Liteway Plus easy to store in the trunk of your car! It highlights the infant’s total comfort and the parent’s convenience at the same time. With the easy one-hand adjustable reclining seat, canopy and leg support make the Chicco Liteway Plus Stroller travel-friendly.

The comfort of your baby is given a lot of importance by providing flexibility with your stroller. Firstly, the Liteway Plus offers to 5 different reclining positions, including one that is nearly flat. It reclines to a slightly elevated tilt to let little one sleep comfortably and safely with proper head support during your walks around the park or when you take quick trips to the supermarket. It also has an adjustable footrest to accommodate your growing child. The presence of a footrest will also help prevent your kid from getting leg cramps. While its adjustable and removable canopy keeps your sleeping baby warm, cozy and safe from the elements. It even has a peek-a-boo window to let you easily check on your baby. Its seat also has a cushion to add comfort to your child when sitting for long hours.

Maintenance won’t be an issue with this stroller. You can just throw the removable fabrics into the washing machine for cleaning. Just make sure to avoid using bleach and drip dry it. While unremovable fabrics and its metal or plastic parts can be spot cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Getting our kids sick is definitely a big NO-NO!
